Looking At The Ruins

Hasankeyf was allowed to be destroyed. Don't the ghosts of the lives that passed by still haunt under the water, on the bridge? Do not the desires, memories, hopes, joys of the dispossessed, the violence of what happened to them touch the surface? No matter how much it is destroyed, isn't the bridge there to be crossed, to unite the earth? The bridge calls us. The bridge becomes ‘us’. We are the bridge. The performance Looking at the Ruins, which is about remembering, reminding and memory, traces Hasankeyf. By focusing on the history and culture of the displaced people and the destroyed biodiversity flooded by the Ilısu Dam, it aims to draw attention to the destruction of thousands of years of multilingual and multispecies cultural heritage.
